Fungus

Fungus: A single-celled or multicellular organism. Fungi can be true pathogens (such ashistoplasmosis and coccidioidomycosis) that cause infections in healthy persons or they can be opportunistic pathogens (such as aspergillosis, candidiasis, and cryptococcosis) that cause infections in immunocompromised persons (including cancer patients, transplant recipients, and persons with AIDS). An example of a common fungus is the yeast organism which causes thrush and diaper rash (diaper dermatitis). Fungi are also used for the development of antibiotics, antitoxins, and other drugs used to control various human diseases.
A pathogen is any disease-producing agent, especially a virus, bacterium, or other microorganism.

If you are interested in LOTS of different pictures of LOTS of different types of fungus, go to Google and type in fungus, then click on images in the upper left corner on the tool bar.  The beautiful blue tree to the left is one of those you'll see on that site.   The fungus is the tan stuff protruding from the tree.

Now, some people can't even touch fungus or they'll get this microorganism into their system.  Let's be wise with this stuff.  When it is used in the right manner, fungus is actually beneficial.
You can click on any one of the above underlined words if you'd like to delve into a deeper understanding of fungus.

See you all next time when we'll talk about pollution!
Have a great day...and stay away from weird fungus-looking stuff!!

The carcinogen

Carcinogens are substances that are capable of causing cancer in humans as well as animals. Substances that are known to aggravate, but not necessarily cause it may also be called carcinogens. There are many things in our environment that are thought to cause cancer, but a substance is only considered a carcinogen if there is scientific evidence to back it up.

Some common carcinogens are smoke, asbestos, radon, arsenic as well as certain pesticides. Many of the things that we use in day to day life can also be referred to as carcinogen. Items such as chlorine, snack foods, and certain plastics are all carcinogens.

Toxins

Hello Friends of my blog!

Let's continue our nutrition study of the immune system!

.A toxin is simply a poison that can affect the body by internal or external means. A toxin can be a chemical which occurs naturally or in synthetic form. More than 120,000 human-made chemicals have been introduced into the environment, in one form or another, and this number continues to grow each year at a phenomenal rate. At the same time, microbial toxins, being influenced by the vast numbers of chemicals, are mutating beyond belief. Each category of microbes produces species that generates toxins in host cells. Evidence is proving a definitive link between the accumulation of toxins in body tissues and the development of chronic diseases.
External toxins, either chemical or microbial, enter the body through food, water, air, or physical contact with the skin or mucous membranes. Internal toxins, as the free radicals, are produced inside the body through normal metabolic processes or through the decomposition of foods in the small and large intestines. Bacterial toxins and yeast overgrowth can also form in cases of chronic constipation.
Under normal circumstances, the body is able to eliminate toxins from the body via urine, feces, exhalation, and persperation. Thus, the major organs involved in elimination are the kidneys, liver, colon, lungs, and skin. In addition, WBCs (white blood cells) of the immune system are designed to neutralize microbial toxins. The liver is the organ primarily responsible for breaking toxins into harmless byproducts, which are eliminated into the stool or through the kidneys into the urine.

Remember that I am going to inform you how to keep these toxins, for the most part, out of your body.  Our next invader is the carcinogen.

Immune System

The immune system, which is made up of special cells, proteins, tissues, and organs, defends people against germs and microorganisms every day. In most cases, the immune system does a great job of keeping people healthy and preventing infections. But sometimes problems with the immune system can lead to illness and infection.

This is a general overview of the IMMUNE SYSTEM. If you'd like a more thorough definition of your immune system, feel free to click on this link:  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immune_system

*   The immune system is one of the most important systems in our bodies.  It helps keep us strong and healthy especially when we take care to put in the right foods and nutrients.

*   Looking at the above diagram, you can see some of the harmful substances that try to invade our bodies at any given time.

** I am going to give a short explanation of each of these invaders one at a time, and I will summarize only one per blog.  This way, you can follow me step by step with a better understanding of each one.  My point in doing this is to make sure you know the severity of each one so you can stay far away from these harmful intruders.  I will begin telling you about the virus.

Virus is defined as any of a group of microscopic infectious agents reproduced only in living cells,  causing diseases such as; mumps, chicken pox, cold sores, the common cold, and more serious viruses such as Ebola, AIDS and influenza.
The origin of the virus is really not known.  A virus can be found in all organisms such as bacteria, plants, animals and in the unique and complex body of humans because all  are living and contain cells.  The virus attaches somewhere to the body, depending on the type of virus it is,  and penetrates into a cell which acts as a host for the virus.  Once inside the cell, the virus multiplies, and if not killed, will overtake that area bursting right through that good cell.  Note here that it is up to us to keep all of our cells good and healthy.  I will explain HOW TO accomplish this after the summary of each invader.

Well I'll see you all on my next blog where I will discuss toxins.

Back to Water!!!

Do you know why I am back talking about WATER?  It's because I did not take my own advice this week, and I have FELT the difference.  I noticed that I was not properly eliminating daily as I should (sorry, but this is one of the first signs!!).  I was tired and draggy; another sign, and I thought I was hungry late last night after having good meals that day, which make me wonder how much water I drank that day.  Then I realized that I only drank about 3 or 4 eight ounces cups of water all day!!   Yikes!  This is  SO much less than  I usually drink.  I have this big, purple {which is my favorite color} cup that is 24 oz.   I usually fill it up at least 3 times a day which = 9 eight ounce cups of water a day.  This is a little more than 'experts' recommend of water per day.   They usually recommend 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water a day.   Another factor to consider is that it is hot out,  so more fluid is necessary to replenish the water my body needs.

When it all started...

Well, I guess I started getting into all this "healthy stuff" when I was in my twenties.

I began exercising and staying away from lots of meats.  I also began reading good informative articles and books on
 HOW TO STAY HEALTHY.
Like I stated in my previous blog, I drank lots of water and stayed away from sodas.  Let me tell you here and now that our bodies spend SO much time just breaking down the sugars that sodas contain. It takes hours for our immune system to accomplish this.  Suppose you do drink sodas often.  If  a virus, scratch or wound of some kind came along at the same time your immune system was dealing with these sugars, it would not be as effective as it possibly could be in fighting to heal the wound or attack that virus and run it out of your body.
So stay tuned to learning
HOW TO KEEP YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM STRONG!!
